"After 23 years, it was time to replace the deck that stretched out over the front of my 50 year-old Mesa home. The deck presented many challenges. It was huge, spanning over 1500 square feet. It is highly visible from inside the home, from my immediate yard, and to the 12 other homeowners that live on my street. Because of its size and location it gets drenched with water when it rains and bakes in the sun the rest of year. The size of the deck was daunting in terms of cost, decorating, and maintenance.

I had the good fortune to meet Bill Bolton and work with him in designing a deck that was smaller and design-wise a much better fit with my home. We spent a good deal of time talking about the redesign of the deck and eventually came up with a simple, but elegant design that is more suited to breaking the deck up into usable, functional spaces without any sacrifice of the panoramic ocean view.

Bill was exceptionally knowledgeable regarding decking materials and systems. Without pushing me towards any one product, he was able to lay out the pros and cons of various products.
